I sometimes find photography to be too true.  When viewing a photograph of a person, we question who they are and what they represent, then we look for clues in the photograph to answer our question.  Challenged to focus on the experience rather than the person, I began to experiment with techniques that would draw a more diverse group to identify and relate with the subject’s experience.  I found photography-based digital mixed media affords me the freedom to capture real-life experiences while providing a more universal identity.  My Girls in Motion series is a tribute to the strength of young womanhood.  It is important to me that these images convey her genuine strength and internal fortitude.  These images are presented with no component of the original photograph remaining.  My art typically relates to human experiences.  Recently my work has focused on the confidence and successes of our youth.
